Defining Moments with Isabel Bassett and Rita Tsang

Join us for a fascinating evening as we hear about the Defining Moments that have made both Isabel Bassett and Rita Tsang the women leaders they are. How did they choose their paths? How did they get from B to F?

Before Isabel Bassett became a politician, she was a high school teacher, a reporter, the host of a public affairs program and a producer/writer of documentaries. Why would you give up that life to be a politician and a cabinet minister? And then she was the Chair of TVO. She holds honorary LLD's from Dalhousie and York as well as being an author, a volunteer with the YWCA, and a Chevalier in the French Legion of Honour.

Rita Tsang came to Canada from Hong Kong in the mid-1970's and set up a travel service for Asian students. Then, with only $50,000 and the help of husband & family, she started & built Tour East Holidays, now a billion dollar travel company employing over 200 people, with offices in Canada, the USA and Asia. Tsang has steered Tour East through turbulent times and maintained it as one of only a handful of global travel companies that actually has seen growth. This savvy business woman is most proud of her contributions to Canadian society. Tsang's talents and community commitment have been recognized in numerous honours, including the Order of Ontario, and the RBC Canadian Woman Entrepreneur of the Year Award.
