Nine Calgary and one Edmonton IWF member gathered for another great winter weekend in Invermere, BC. The three hour trip from Calgary took place February 27-March 1 and included a fabulous two and half days of lively chatter, a lot of exercise, a day on the slopes at Panorama and the first on the ice tail-gate party hosted by Arlene Flock. Another new event for this year was several hours at the local antique shop, which boasts a wonderful assortment of furniture, dishes, and other antiquities from Britain, China, India and Europe. With the third annual event behind us, the organizers Linda Hohol, Arlene Flock and Maureen Payne are already planning 2010, which will definitely include another Lake Windermere on the ice tail-gate party. Frances Wright, A Woman of Vision

On March 9, Frances Wright, President and CEO of the VERTEX Group, was honoured among Calgary’s Women of Vision at Global TV’s annual luncheon celebrating the lives and achievements of 12 exceptional women throughout the community. Frances has contributed her enormous talents both locally and nationally, and is well-known as the founder of the Famous 5 Foundation which was responsible for the magnificent monuments installed in Ottawa and Calgary in memory of the five Alberta women who, in 1929, ensured that Canadian women would forever be recognized as ‘persons’ with all the rights and responsibilities guaranteed by law, equal to the rights of men.
