Karen Prentice to Speak at Famous 5 Foundation Luncheon March 18
After graduating from the University of Calgary, Faculty of Law in 1982, Karen Prentice spent over 25 years in various legal and executive management roles. She has been a Commission Member of the Alberta Securities Commission since 2006 serving in a combined governance, policy making and adjudicative role. Prior to that, she was Executive Vice-President of Legal and Corporate Affairs at Enmax Corporation.
New opportunities for Ms. Prentice to show leadership arose when her husband Jim was elected as the Member of Parliament for Calgary Centre North in 2004 and became a federal cabinet minister in 2006.
Recently, her volunteer activities have focused on the arts and science. She is currently active in both the Calgary and Ottawa communities as a director of the Telus World of Science, a director of the Ottawa Art Gallery and a member of the committee in support of the Governor General's Performing Arts Awards. She is also Chair of the Banff International Research Station for Mathematical Innovation and Discovery.
The Luncheon will be held March 18 at Calgary's Fairmont Palliser Hotel at 12 noon.
